DataPark – Role-based Security
One of the most important features of DataPark is role-based security. Role is a group of one or more users with the same access rights and it can be configured to filter data based on certain rules and even to block access to sensitive information.
To create a new role, go to main navigation, Admin -> Manage -> User Roles.
- Give it a name, and optionally description.
- Choose data sources to which users of this role need to have access to. On the right side list of tables with available fields appears when a data source is selected, or fades out when data source is deselected.
- To create a filter, simply select a field from the table you need to filter on and add it to FILTERS section. In the input box, start typing the value of the filter. This field offers auto-complete functionality, to select the desired value. With filter in place, all users assigned to this role will see only data that pertains to their role.
- Additionally, you can block access to data you consider sensitive. Select fields from the table you need to protect and add them to BLOCK ACCESS section. Such fields will not be accessible to any user belonging to this role.
Clicking SAVE saves the new role into database and takes you to Manage Users screen, where you can assign users to newly created role.
To do so, select a role in USER ROLES select box, then select one or more users in USERS select box, and click ADD USERS TO ROLE in the menu.
